I was really impressed by this game!  It's a good idea, and every aspect of it is well executed.

wowwwwwwwwwwwwwwww

Awesome little game. Great work, congrats!

I would like to begin by saying this game is a brilliant and I had a blast playing for 50+ hours. I especially love how each character's has a unique ability when running into an enemy: Wanderer swaps places, Ronin dragon punches, Shadow, unironically, shadow dashes. Each other these abilities match their character's starter weapon perfectly.

That being said, one thing that has confused me is that the Assassin has the same ability as Wanderer. Even more so, the starter weapon of the Assassin, being the sword, cannot hit the opponent immediately after you swap with them. I would like to recommend changing the Assassin's ability to a bo staff. This would allow the Assassin to not only use their sword after using their ability, but also be able to hit again because of the quick recharge time of the sword.

I would like to reaffirm that this game is great and all changes are ultimately left up to you. Thank you for making the alpha free and good luck with development!

Yeah, the Assassin is indeed the odd one in the characters lineup... I might change it in the future. Thank you for playing!!

I want to preface this comment by saying I'm a major fan of this game. It's so extremely satisfying to work through, though along with my praise I do have a few criticisms.  First of all, the update: The skip button is SO welcome, the map makes sense and feels like a good place to expand upon, and the UI changes such as the top-of-screen level counter are great.

I do have some major issues with the game at the moment: This game needs external item descriptions accessible mid-round. Even if they're just optional, a short description of each item on hover/click would be great. It took me ages at first to find out what the assassin's ability did since it isn't in shops, and in general, it'd be useful to new players.  Secondly, push and phase are terrible compared to swap. If an enemy is about to dash or teleport forward while they have their back against a wall, usually you can swap. But with the non-swapping characters, you have no choice but to tank it, which doesn't work well with the limited health pools. Third of all, the late-game enemies that are black blobs attack WAY too fast. It feels like there's no reaction time, and to deal with them without tanking you either need the perfect build/position or you need the time potion. They just aren't fun or satisfying to fight, they're annoying.

In the end, though, this game is extremely enjoyable, and I look forward to further updates and playing.

Thank you for the very useful feedback :D

I'm definitely not addicted...

(+2)

Really enjoyable with a great concept.

(+2)

Oh wow, this is super smart! Will definitely pick it up on Steam when it is finished!

No cooldown free cast smoke bomb. this is power.

(+1)

if only i also had a no cooldown turn around. would've been so much funnier.

Hey, how can you unlock three of the heros in this game?

On the map, choose a path to the question mark.

Thank you, i've been skipping that path lol

You're welcome. It took me some time to figure that out.

This froze when I "froze" a general and he couldn't dash.

Thanks for the bug report, I'll have a look! (were you playing with the web-build or a downloaded version?)

The web-build.

Watch this before you make a mistake

Enjoyed the game before absolutely loved it after this update. Amazing work, the backgrounds are beautiful and the the sound design for the attacks is great. I love the various strategies you can build your deck with, and it's an amazing feeling when you can destroy a boss with a powerful tile you've upgraded, wonderful work from roboatino and everyone on the team

hi, how do you “phase” with “the shadow”

(+1)

While facing an enemy(touching), walk toward the enemy again to phase through enemies. Can phase through multiple enemies in a row but must always have a free cell behind the enemy/enemies.

(+1)

amazing update !

I wonder why the author has chosen 「rat」「rabbit」「dragon」「dog」, as it seems like using chinese zodiac and the corresponding earthly branches system to represent hours (if i haven't make a mistake, 12 in total?)

Real Fun

hi, i have downloaded and would like to edit for fun with gdevelop, how do i do this

(+1)

It is amazing what you can do with a simple but brilliant idea for a game. Loving it! Congratulations!! I hope you get to finish this. It has so much potential!

Not sure if it is proper to write this here, but I feel I should credit the guy also that does so much about the indie game community.

I found about the game through esty8nine on twitch, awesome community and so much work done regarding indie games and gaming in general.

Much love! Hope you have a great success with shogun showdown!

(+1)

awesome videogame, you put a great effort

Maybe in a future update you can upgrade weapons before battle. other than that, incredible game. i'm hooked

(+1)

good

why does it keep kicking me out when i press mouse buttons sometimes

what does the lightning affix do?

(+2)

Love it.  Defeated the Shogun and it was very satisfying.

Question: What does the special power of the Assassin do?  It puts a little glyph on an enemy, but I'm not seeing a way to find out what it actually does.

When you land a hit on a cursed enemy, your attack will do double the damage.

Hey: "Quit Game" from the menu seems to freeze up the web version, don't know if you're already aware.

Thanks ;)

Not sure how I managed this, but backpedal after a quick turn (so quick that it was almost on the same turn) placed me in the same position as this character (I may have stepped back into them. I've tried to replicate it and been unable to, so it probably has something to do with something I'm unaware of. May have stepped back into them after the backpedal somehow. This is almost immediately after the first boss.

(+1)

That same character was also unable to be targeted/damaged by other enemies' attacks, and immediately after, I could step back into the character when they were attempting to attack me. Any stepping away ended this effect and I could no longer step into the character.

(+2)

This game is really cool! A really nice concept!

(+1)

imagine

Hahahahaha. My most close one is a zero cool down ice blade, but without play free. And shogun just cannot move twice.

(+1)
so I almost just lost.

WITH THAT MUCH MAX HEALTH

(+2)

i believe you can farm gold in the coward boss.

There's also a "exploit" to get some gold using the stored potions and trading your life for money.

stored potions are limited though so the coward trick is likely better overall

(+4)

Great game bro! I paid 2$ because I think you and your game deserve it.

I have some bugs to report.

Taking time stop potion and finish the last enemy within 3 steps, the settlement screen will stay grey.

The "死" mark will be turned left and right upside downwhen the marked enemy turns around.

My English is not very good. Hope I had conveyed what I want to say.

Thanks again for this awesome game. I can't wait to buy it

(+1)

I love it! It's the best game I found these days!

(+1)

Wonderful game bro!

(+1)

No advice, I just love it :)

(+1)

This game is awesome! The battle system is really fun, and I think overall it is fair but challenging. Though there are some things I have to say

1.Maybe add an attack that turns you around, maybe a back kick. A lot of times I wish I could turn during my attacks.

2. The first boss can be defeated without damage easily with a swapping character. Just wait for the dash attack and swap. Maybe give him a ranged attack so you can't just keep hopping out of range?

To be honest most of, if not all the bosses can be done the same way once you have an idea of their pattern such as first boss usually follows pattern of Sword, Spin, Dash. or the second boss, who is in my option the hardest boss since he both summons and has the shield which is a pain to deal with unless you have multiple attacks queued or poison. If not a swap position attack a rotation attack can be just as effective for them and having a knock back such as Dragon Fist for when the boss is right up on you and you want to do damage and avoid an attack like swing or sword.  The third and final boss can be tricky since they bring the ranged element and as well as having some attacks with "Effects" on them such as the freeze arrows on the final or the double swing from the third.  Most of the time the thing which will get you is not the bosses but the main enemies from the stages prior to them.
